West of Somerset is the site of the
Quecreek Mine Disaster Rescue. Remember that? It wasn't that long ago. In July, 2002, nine miners were trapped in a mine shaft when they accidentally broke through to a flooded mine, cutting themselves off. For four days, the world watched the attempted rescue, and collectively breathed a sigh of relief when all nine emerged alive. This is the covered shaft of the rescue tunnel.
My day wasn't nearly so exciting. I ran six miles, indoors. I'm going to shoot for outside again in the morning.
